The sacred shrine of Catholicism, St.Peter's cathedral is located at the site of crucifixion of St.Peter, at the circus of Nero. Emperor Constantine constructed a basilica over his tomb. The basilica was later rebuit in the 15th century and took about 300 years to be completed.

The Renaissance Dome was designed by Michelangelo, though not completed in his lifetime, the Baroque cathedral was designed by Bernini.
